En esta zona los países participantes establecerán sus posiciones y buscarán llegar a un acuerdo que permita tomar medidas determinantes a nivel global para la protección de la diversidad biológica. Es el corazón de la COP16.
El Pabellón Colombia es la casa de Colombia en la Zona Azul de la COP16, este espacio reunirá a entidades del gobierno, sociedad civil y aliados de la cooperación. Allí se desarrollarán reuniones bilaterales, conferencias y negociaciones de alto nivel.
Los eventos paralelos de la CBD complementan las sesiones oficiales y ofrecen un espacio para que grupos de científicos, ONG, comunidades indígenas y sector privado, se reúnan, compartan conocimientos, experiencias y propuestas relacionadas con la conservación de la biodiversidad.
The Blue Zone will be located in the Valle del Pacífico Event Center, the second largest and most modern event space in Colombia and the most modern in the Latin American Pacific region. Its strategic location, on the Cali - Yumbo Highway, is only 15 minutes away from the Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport and 20 minutes from the hotel zone of Santiago de Cali, capital of the department of Valle del Cauca.
It has a bioclimatic, multifunctional and modular infrastructure, with a total area of 77,419 m², including 40,940 m² built and about 25,000 m² of green areas. The venue is equipped to host large-scale events and can accommodate up to 12,000 people.
This setting is the perfect combination of modern architecture and a natural landscape, offering a full view of the western mountain range and the valley above the Cauca River.
The Valle del Pacífico Event Center has state-of-the-art technology, connectivity, comprehensive security, parking for cars and buses, luggage storage, infirmary, logistics platform for loading and unloading, dressing room area, stage machinery and museum tour.
Who can enter the Blue Zone?
The Blue Zone is the formal conference and negotiating space managed by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). It is the venue for all official sessions, meetings, side events and press conferences held during COP16.
Only participants accredited by the CBD, including Party delegations, Heads of State, admitted observers and accredited press may enter the Blue Zone.
Here you will also find the Colombia Pavilion, a place where different panels and activities will be held that put the voices of citizens, their initiatives and projects at the center of the discussion.
