Bogotá, October 6, 2024 – As a pre-COP16 event, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Susana Muhamad, was present at the 'Run for the Hills' race, an initiative that had the participation of more than 100 people, including the UK Ambassador, George Hodgson, who was the winner of the day.
More than 100 people gathered in a 5K race that aimed to show support for the protection of the eastern hills of Bogota and to live a Sunday in Peace with Nature.
“15 days before COP16, today citizens of Bogota ran for the Eastern Hills. This race in the hills really exemplifies the race against time to be able to do Peace with Nature actions. But how nice to fill our lungs with oxygen, to run through an ecosystem that every day protects us, protects those of us who live here in Bogota, to feel with our sweat, to feel with our feet the strength of nature and to be warriors for life. This is how Bogota also prepares and participates to be part of the COP16”, said Muhamad, at the end of the race.
The event was attended by the Minister of Environment, Susana Muhamad, who said that this is how Bogota is also preparing for the COP16 on biodiversity.
